I’m talking about homemade maple jalapeño gravy! Two flavor combinations that should be used together way more often because it is just that good.
I mentioned to you yesterday that I had never made homemade stuffing, well I had never made homemade gravy from scratch either! You can forever say goodbye to that powder packet that only has one instruction…just add water. In fact, I even kept in the giblets, something I would never have dreamt of doing before.
While that may be quick and easy, you will never taste a gravy quite like this one. Sweet. Spicy. Yum!
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup white flour
3 tbsp bacon grease
2 cups low sodium chicken broth
giblets from chicken, or turkey (optional)
2 tbsp pure maple syrup
1/2 jalapeño, diced finely
1. Melt the butter in a small sauce pan on low heat. Whisk in the flour and let it brown.
2. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth and bacon grease. Stir constantly on medium-high heat and bring to a simmer.
3. Now, stir in giblets, maple syrup and jalapeños. Let this simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring often.
4. You can remove the giblets with a spoon afterwards if you would like.
5. Serve, and enjoy!
